Accessibility, Inclusion, & Community Commitment
Statement of Commitment
At Zoom Room Dog Training, inclusivity is not just a compliance requirement—it is a core tenet of our mission. We are dedicated to ensuring that our services, physical locations, and digital experiences are accessible to all members of our community, including those with disabilities. We strive to create an environment where every dog owner can train, socialize, and bond with their pet, regardless of physical or cognitive ability.
Physical Location Accessibility (The Built Environment)
We have designed our facilities to meet or exceed the standards set by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Our commitment to a barrier-free environment includes, but is not limited to:
- Accessible Entry & Egress: All public entrances feature compliant door widths, threshold heights, and hardware operable with a closed fist (lever-style handles) to ensure ease of access for individuals with limited mobility or dexterity.
- Service Counter Design: Our checkout and reception counters are designed with lowered sections to accommodate individuals using wheelchairs or mobility devices, ensuring face-to-face interaction at eye level.
- Restroom Facilities: Our restrooms are fully ADA-compliant, featuring grab bars, accessible sinks with insulated piping, and adequate turning radiuses for wheelchair users.
- Path of Travel: We maintain clear, wide, and unobstructed pathways throughout our retail and training floors to ensure safe maneuverability for all clients.
- Staff Training: Our staff receives training on disability etiquette and is instructed to provide reasonable accommodations—such as carrying products or assisting with dog handling—whenever requested.
Therapy Dog Program: Supporting Our Community
Our commitment to the disability community extends beyond our own walls. Zoom Room is a proud trainer and certifier of Therapy Dog teams. Through our curriculum, we actively train dogs and handlers to provide comfort, affection, and support to people in hospitals, retirement homes, schools, and rehabilitation centers.
By training dogs to remain calm around medical equipment (like wheelchairs and walkers) and to interact gently with individuals who may have limited mobility or cognitive differences, we are actively contributing to a more supportive and accessible society.
Digital Accessibility (Website & Technology)
We are committed to making our website accessible to the widest possible audience. We are actively working to ensure our digital content conforms to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, which is the recognized global standard for web accessibility.
Our Digital Accessibility Standards Include:
- Screen Reader Compatibility: Ensuring images have descriptive alternative text (alt-text) and forms have proper labels.
- Keyboard Navigation: Optimizing our site structure so that all interactive elements (menus, buttons, forms) can be operated without a mouse.
- Visual Accessibility: Maintaining high color contrast ratios for readability and providing clear focus indicators for navigation.
