Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Zoom Room dog training.

What is Zoom Room?

Zoom Room is the nation's premier positive-reinforcement dog training franchise, specializing in fun, structured group classes that build real-world focus, confidence, and social skills. At Zoom Room, our motto is "We don't train dogs. We train the people who love them."

Our goal is simple: to strengthen the lifelong bond between dogs and their families. We meet every dog-and-owner team exactly where they are, then guide them through a skill-based advancement path. As foundational skills improve, new levels, agility, enrichment, and social experiences unlock.

With flexible scheduling and classes offered throughout the week, Zoom Room fits real life. Zoom Room isn't a quick fix - it's a lifelong training journey that creates better behavior, deeper connection, and confident owners.

How do your classes work?

Group Classes: Ongoing, Skill-Based Training
Group classes are the core of our training program and are designed to be flexible and ongoing. We use a Levels Training system, meaning progress is based on skill mastery and milestones, not a fixed schedule. You attend classes when it works for your life, practice skills between classes, and move forward as milestones are achieved. Consistency is encouraged to support progress, but you're never locked into a specific day or time and taking time off for travel, holidays, or busy schedules won't set you back. Beyond foundational obedience, group classes allow teams to continue training long-term by exploring advanced skills, agility, enrichment, and other activities that strengthen the bond between dogs and their people.

Workshops: Focused & Specialized Training
Workshops are structured more like traditional group classes you may be familiar with. They meet on a set day and time for a defined number of weeks (typically three or six) and each session builds on the last. Workshops focus on specific topics or activities, ranging from entry-level skills to more advanced or specialized areas. Some workshops have prerequisites and are a great option for dogs who have already completed group classes and are ready to explore new challenges or training opportunities.

Private Training: Individualized Support
Private training sessions offer one-on-one instruction tailored to your goals and your dog's needs. These sessions can support foundational skills, polish existing behaviors, or help work through specific challenges. While we may address some basic behavior concerns, such as mild reactivity or impulse control, our primary focus is on training, skill-building, and owner education, rather than intensive behavior modification.

What do I bring?

Collars/Harnesses: Flat buckle collars along with nylon or leather leashes should be used for classes. Correction collars (choke chains, prong collars, and e-collars) are not permitted in the training area. Head collars (Haltis or Gentle Leaders) and harnesses should be removed prior to agility classes. Flexi-Leashes (i.e. retractable) are not permitted in the training area.

Treats: We recommend bringing at least one high-value treat and one low-value treat. In dog training, the "value" of a treat just means how exciting it is to the dog, not how healthy or expensive it is. You use different value treats depending on how hard the task is or how distracting the environment is. We also carry many treats and we can help you pick the best ones to set your dog up for success!

Can I drop my dog off?

We train you to train your dog, in the company of wonderful like-minded dog lovers! We require all dogs to have at least one handler. We're all about deepening the bonds of communication between you and your dog using positive training methods.

How old does my dog need to be to take classes?

Our Puppy Preschool classes are available for dogs starting at 2 months old.

Can I use my purchased credits at any location?

No. Each Zoom Room is independently owned and operated.

How do I contact my local store?
